Good to see (from front page) that Mary Macleod is meeting with students from Chiswick School to talk about this issue although apparently Angie Bray has refused to accept similar meetings. I'm not going to claim this is a great time to be in education but there is some advantage to being young in an age when valid but diametrically opposed views on the same issues are held. Over the last few decades student politics has been dominated by the environment and equalities issues which there is a broad consensus on making them relatively valueless in terms of developing the capacity to make well reasoned argument. I think meeting with Mary Macleod will be of huge benefit to these students particularly if they then take the opportunity to develop their own case as to why they think she is wrong. |
