| Carrie Just a point on grammar, punctuation, accuracy, etc. At some point a lot of these youngsters will be on the job market looking to get started on their careers. At that point they will be writing and sending CVs to potential employers. Those CVs with spelling errors and factual inaccuracies, elementary errors with dates or places, or simply careless slips get thrown in the bin. So it is important to emphasise correct use of spelling, grammar, and so on. As you say the point of language is to communicate an idea. And one of those ideas is "I cannot be bothered to get my spelling or facts accurate for you because I do not care very much what you think about me". |
