Even if it was a real van it's a decoy. The conservative government has really really got this one wrong and many years of pent up right wing ideology is being 'expertly' rolled out. Now it may be one big master plan, it might be just the collective ideas of a party being acted out, either way I'm certain we're going to see why the selfish short term conservative attitude does not lead to joined up thinking. Basically what appears to be a good idea will simply not be put up with by a new generation who have been taught critical thinking, something that schools that prefer a 'classical' approach are less skilled at teaching (Boris Johnson been a prime example, very bright in a 'history' way, very dumb in terms of evidence based rational thought). The stage for the next 5 years has been set, or rather was set by the terrible decisions of Tony Blair. Ignoring 1-2 million people marching is the reason why future protests will continue to gain momentum that kettling can only deal with to a certain degree - and is likely to make worse in some cases. Personally I don't want the Trade Unions invovled - they belong to another time and place to the Students. The bright and the good are already involved or becoming more involved. I've never seen so many intelligent people comletelly disagree in the same way in such a angry way, not because of cut at first, but because of the obvious way this thing is attempting to be played out by the media an cameron. Many will buy it but for those that matter it'll just make them more distrustful and angry. |
