"How does Wales, Scotland...pay for their education?" Subsidies from England, under the Barnett formula. Under the sterling single currency zone the richer member (England) bails out the poorer members (Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland), in the same way that under the euro single currency zone the richer member (Germany) bails out the poorer members (Greece, Eire). |
