NO, I mean they wont. The huge amount of debt they would need to go into would put them off. We are talking around £12-15,000 per year for a course. (once you include living costs) And for law, medicine etc the costs would simply put young people off. The young people on the young persons question time clearly stated that they would NOT of chosen to go to college when facing those kinds of debts. Why should we bail out Ireland, who own students will not have this kind of raise imposed. Wales has also stated they will not be making the raises to fees to their Welsh students. Scotland is free. But in the UK it is to rise by 3 times. And it is not just about the fees, its about the removable of the EMA. A tiny amount paid on a means tested policy to the very poorest of students. Plus this cuts will force whole departments to close. Human Rights is already closing at Roehampton ( a world reknown dept). With arts and humanties courses threaten across the country. Not that the Tories are known for the love of Human Rights. But pressure is mounting and it does look like the lib dems will at least take the cowards way out and abstain. So carry on students, keep the pressure up and show that collective people power can and will stop these unfair cuts. |
