| Cllr Raza deliberately misled the Overview and Scrutiny Panel of which he was (and is) Chair on an important matter. He should NOT have stood again for this position and he should certainly not have been reselected. When the Conservatives last ran Hounslow (in coalition with a local group of independents) after a great deal of consultation and soul searching the council's constitution was amended. The gist of this amendment was that in at least one of every 4 year term of office the council would select the candidate from a minority party that had a minimum number of councillors. During the last Conservative led administration there were two Conservative Mayor's, one Lib-Dem Mayor and one independent. Labour abstained on the vote to change the constitution and when they took power again immediately reversed the "Tory" amendment. |
