| Do you know Roger - I have been very politically engaged for most of my life, and also active in the Labour party for a long period of time, but I have never been as disillusioned as I am now. If I were on my own in that - that would be one thing, but several friends of mine also share that view. That's sad when you think about it, can any of the parties afford to lose long time supporters? The quality of our political representatives both nationally and locally is pretty dismal (if I'm polite about it). So just who represents us now? It all seems to be about what they can get out of it, be it lording it over us or money - instead of the privilege that it is to be elected to be an advocate for people. This is a great pity for the people - and there are a number - who are in public office for the right reasons and who must despair when they see some of their fellow members. After the shambles of the last few years, it is so dispiriting not to be able to have any confidence that things really can get better. |
