| I think it is wrong to say that engineers are totally uninterested in what the public have to say. They did take on board the comments that were made about the CS9 route particularly on the stretch between Kew Bridge and Wellesley Road and amended the initial unworkable design. However, a respondent who comes up with well-founded and helpful suggestions for a scheme may not count as a supporter in the crude yes/no way TfL is currently judging to assess the outcome of the consultations. Although designs will be significantly improved by feedback there is the dilemma that the more people who are responding in detail the less likely the consultation is to deliver a result showing majority support. I don't know the proposed Notting Hill/Wood Lane route well enough to comment but, given its complexity, there are bound to be serious design issues that would normally come up during the consultation. We met up with two families at the weekend who live about 250 yards from the route and none of them had heard of the proposed plan until I told them about it. |
