| Thanks for pointing this out. From what you say it looks like TfL are reverting to the doctrine of 'traffic evaporation' which they used to try and justify the West London Tram. This holds that if you restrict the flow of traffic the resulting jams created will cause people to abandon their journey or chose a new route and eventually traffic conditions will revert to previous. Don't think the theory works in London because so many journeys are non-discretionary. Also with travel apps restricting traffic flow on major routes just means it gets diverted to residential streets. |
