| At times in my life I have commuted into town on both of those roads (HSK and Holland Park Ave). Thousands of other people do the same. They need to be represented - it's not just about the local residents. No major infrastructure would ever get built if local residents had the ability to block it. The problem is that the mayor and TFL need more power to be able to overrule councils like K&C, and Westminster. I'm very disappointed with the record of the Tories towards cycling, and air pollution. I saw an article by the Tory mayoral candidate that implied that he might not go ahead with the ULEZ extension. The attitude they have demonstrated may well affect my vote at the next round of elections. I'm not saying that TFL get everything right (CS9 would be far better on the A4), but when the Tories make comments about it "destroying the High Road" on the local party website, it does make it very hard to vote for them. CS9 isn't the best use of money, but if TFL are willing to ignore better options and spend it here, then let them. It's better than what we have at the moment. |
