Interesting logic David - one could equally argue it might be easier to get planning permission these days because there'll soon be hardly any staff left in planning departments. Basically I don't agree with either logic, as I don't subscribe to the theory that the more or less building activity or staff, the easier or harder it is to get permission. I do however think it's harder to get permission these days because whereas 20 years ago you could submit a major planning application with just the application form, the statutory fee and afew drawings, nowadays the application has to be accompanied by a plethora of technical reports etc, to such an extent just getting an application validated feels like something that deserves a celebration, forget getting an approval !. |
