Adam, thank you for letting us know. From personal experience, there are big problems with the fiefdom of planning. They are incapable, ever, of retracting of even apologising. In the particular case I have in mind, they failed to notify the immediate residents, put up a notice on a busy road in August and published the application in a paper that is not distributed in Chiswick. When the matter came to light a few months later and it was pointed out to them that they were wrong for a whole variety of reasons, including restrictions imposed by 2 previous planning approvals, we were told it was too late. It went to the SDC and that was a complete farce with the person who signed off the documentation being the same person who was advising the SDC and behaving appallingly during the whole proceedings - swinging her legs, appealing to the heavens at every point made against and far too much eye contact between her and the Chair. Legal Proceedings were instituted (and still on going) and the staff (1 in particular) made it as difficult as possible to obtain historical documentation - from allowing only 1 hour sessions with a copying machine that over 4 weeks never worked properly, sitting behind the researcher and everytime he found something interesting would be told he could not copy it, could only read it and so on. NO, this Planning Dept. must never be allowed sole charge of our planning affairs. They have not shown themselves to be either fair or impartial on too many occasions. |
