I once had the misfortune to end up talking to someone who worked in planning at a party. He was a bit drunk and boorish. He told me that he didn't think that the public should have a right to object to planning applications because a good architect would never submit plans in breach of planning rules and if a good architect wasn't in charge of the scheme, planners would check it for breaches. The whole obligation to publicise applications and respond to objections was a gigantic waste of money in his view. |
