I certainly respect Cllr Hearn in that he does his best to give fulsome and helpful replies. Also I cannot speak for the technicalities which have run through parts of this thread. However none of that disqualifies me and other “interested” parties from having a view which is equally valid. So I am concerned about suggestions of idealized views. That might just conceivably be a remark which says that the old brigade establishment knows best and that people who want change are troublemakers. For instance how often is the word “regeneration” just a smoke screen for redevelopment in its narrow sense? I just wonder for example how much money coming out of those expensive and not exactly attractive developments at Kew Bridge is going to be poured back into the community – so it can actually see prolonged sustaining benefits. Planning in this country over several decades has partly given us a very messy and often ugly heritage and because of its failure (in contrast to what I have often seen in France) it is now the turn of the public locals to have a far greater say. |
