First I would never use the term 'Truth', that's an absolute and really only belongs in religion. The best we can ever get to is beyond reasonable doubt and we're there with global warming being man made. Most folks arnt that into science and don't really know the difference between a fact and a theory in those terms. Because of this and other reasons, and to answer you questions, did the Creationists win the argument? Then answer is in multiple cases, in fact in each debate where the rules where set and agree by both sides the answer is the Creationists always lost. The debate still continues on the newsgroup talk.origins. Having a strong view is not the same as being a bigot. Anyone can engage in this argument but attacking the arguement claiming it's religious, arrogant, angry, pretentious etc. is not engaging but avoiding engagement by claiming the arguement is silly but with no justification. If anyone wants to engage, they are free to do so and if this argument is getting up everyones noses I will stop posting on this subject here. I was in two minds about posting something contraversial on a Chiswick forum as folks like trivial stuff here more than the big stuff. No alarms and no suprises should be the theme song for a lot of Chiswick (and maybe the UK as a whole). |
