Mr Peltu, John: Thanks for eventually responding. response I have been endeavouring to get an answer. I've explained earlier why its been difficult. I fail to see why it takes so much effort to answer a question about a standard tendering process, particular when those processes are quoted as the reason for not consulting the community early enough (early consultation was once advocated on the forum by Cllr Lynch when Labour was in power in LBH). Response A wordy question. I think you've confused two separate matters, a major new borough wide Contract with views expressed by Cllr Lynch regarding the rejected 2005 Chiswick Library project. I am sure the procedures followed were within official procedures. I was asking why other things weren't done. response. I have no evidence, nor have you supplied any evidence, that the procedure followed was not compliant in every respect. You mention consulting Officers, Councillors and contractors - but don't mention the community. response. As promised we will. Amongst other things, there will be consultation on any significant service changes proposed by the new contractors eg, any changes to library opening hours. The new contractors will be also be required to carry out periodic customer satisfaction services. We have also strengthened the service specification that the contractors must deliver in areas where customers have complained about the existing service. There will be financial penalties for the contractor if they fail. I have drawn my own conclusions at the prevarications on answering and don't want to bother you busy councillors and officials about this. I am looking forward to reading the details of the decision all you wise people have made on our behalf. response There was no prevarication. I am not too busy either to respond. I have though to get an accurate response or suffer the fate of fellow posters wisdom interspersed occasionally with a touch of sarcasm. The Council's brief is extremely wide and diverse. You can always email me or other Cllrs directly. Best wishes John |
