Thanks Peter for at last having the courtesy to say something directly to your constituents. But you seem to confirm that no public consultation has taken place on these important issues. It would be interesting to have a comment from you on what has changed between 30 August 2002 when Councillor Lynch, now a senior member of your team, posted the following on the forum re the previous proposal for rebuilding the library: 'It seemed important to have a meeting where we could collect views of local people who had something to add to the plans for the Library redevelopment. Many people have spoken me about ideas being discussed, and it is these that I want to capture.' and when today you wrote: 'Once everything is finalised the Council will publicly launch the new contract and we will be able to respond to some of the detailed questions about Chiswick Library that have been posted.' I thought consultation was about discussing things before they happen not 'when everything is finalised', particularly when that decision involves long-term commercial contracts. |
