Perhaps you could share the Grantley secret of safely keeping one eye on the speedo while the rest of your senses are taking into account what is going on around you on the road ? In an urban situation you can't usefully use cruise control and cars do not come with a maximum speed setting (although one would be useful) and most sensible drivers regard keeping both eyes on the road in front of them, along with observing what is happening on the pavements, as their number one priority. The few cars that are fitted with heads-up speedo info projected onto the windscreen make it easier to maintain a maximum speed without having to look down at the dials, but for other drivers the moment they look down at the speedo could be the same moment when some child runs out into the road. |
