David Grantley - what a twittish thing to say. I'm very much in favour of the 20mph zones which already apply in the roads around my house. However, Felicity is right in saying that it is very easy to misjudge your speed slightly and drive above 20mph unless you regularly look at your speedometer - I've found myself doing it and have been driving for over 30 years without a fault accident. Eventually drivers may get used to how 20mph feels but in the meantime it is probably more dangerous for them to be constantly looking away from the road at their speedometer rather than going a few mph over the limit. |
