VERY grateful thanks Simeon, Chris and the ever patient Philippa. To the casual reader it looks absolutely clear that residents of Hounslow can use Townmead free of charge for bags of garden waste by car. But the reality is that I had been turned away earlier in the day because I pay council tax to Hounslow, so I rang Townmead office making reference to their website, and I was informed yes Hounslow residents can use Townmead but it would be charged at £41 per visit. Sensing this was still wrong I eventually rang and emailed Richmond council and received a very speedy and polite reply with an apology for having been turned away from the site earlier and that I can use Townmead. But crucially they made no mention as to whether I would be charged or not. I have emailed them 3 more times and they have not, or will not, reply to this point. Why not? At all times we have all been polite to each other, never a heated word. Even the kindly John Todd has seemingly hit a blank wall with the MD of the West London Waste Authority. |
