| James You need to read the WLWA website pages as well as the Hounslow pages. Then you will see which boroughs are members of ie constitute the West London Waste Authority. (Probably on your other thread) I cut out and pasted the page naming all the West London boroughs which are members of the West London Waste Association. On the Hounslow pages you will find the info about the kerbside collection and about buying extra bags. I don't know at what point they decided on a number of bags. However what most people do is have a chat with their neighbour and borrow a bag or two on the odd week when they have a lot of garden waste and then return the compliment another time. This will become more difficult when the kerbside garden waste collection becomes chargeable. The kerbside garden waste collection in both RICHMOND and EALING is a subscription service that you have to join and pay for. HARROW's kerbside collection is about to change from garden waste + food waste in the same wheelie bin to separate systems where the garden waste will be paid for and the food waste collection will be similar to Hounslow's. HILLINGDON's garden waste appears to still be a free kerbside collection in bags. They also have a weekly food waste collection. BRENT's kerbside garden waste in wheelie bins has just changed to a subscription service. They also have weekly food waste bin (I'm sure I remember it being the same wheelie as the garden waste at one time). They also have a weekly recycling wheelie bin. Those are the SIX London boroughs making up the WLWA. NB Next door borough to Hounslow - Hammersmith & Fulham (LBH&F) is part of another waste authority (Western Riverside Waste Authority)together with some other boroughs. So don't try and go to their Household Reuse & Recycling Centres! Hounslow has a good Council magazine which also gives information on what is changing and what is happening. This has been happening for a long time. It is also online. And we still haven't worked out exactly why you had trouble. |
