Never received it John. It was only garden rubbish but this was not questioned or indeed even inspected. I was in an estate car. Admittedly the back seats were down so I could get more in but the car was hardly stuffed to the gunwhales. This too was not questioned, because all that mattered was that the word Hounslow was on my green sack and this alerted them to the fact that as far as they were concerned I was there against regulations. Just to confirm the misdemeanour I was asked who I paid my council tax to and when I replied Hounslow that was it as it were. I couldn't even empty the rest of my rubbish. I was informed that Hounslow had not paid someone £60,000 and that I would have to use Space Ways, a 21 mile round trip. We had a perfectly amicable discussion about it, after all if the regulations had changed and I had not heard about it I was in no position to put forward what I understood the regulations to be, though I well knew what they HAD been. John, I don't think I have made myself clear: the office at Townmead say what the website says, namely Hounslow residents can use Townmead. But what the website omits to say, and that the Townsmead office does say, is that the charge for Hounslow residents is £41. It is pure chance that this is the same sum for commercial businesses, Townmead don't distinguish between the two in that respect. I have just received an email from Richmond council saying that indeed I can use Townmead. But they too crucially leave out the fact of there being a cost. My point is why is Hounslow allowing Richmond residents to use Space Ways free of charge while Richmond don't reciprocate at Townsmead; and could we not bang heads together to do so? I note that you had a reply from the MD of the WLWA who promised to find out. That was 3 days ago so even he seems to be having some kind of difficulty. Could we not have an organisation of councils in the area to co-ordinate policies and actions that are in their common interests? |
