| There are a lot of questions to be asked including whether we should follow the French with their ban on good food waste being destroyed -v- eaten by humans and animals. Also how many of us volunteer especially over holiday periods. How big London exodus over holidays. There is a lot of fuss about the hospitality sector at the moment. I bet there are some of those people who could have whipped up some good meals the way they have to do at the Upper Room. I remember chatting to a student from Leith's School of Cookery who were preparing food to serve to guests at a celebratory function there to mark the opening of the additional floor. It was pleasing to see them creating a buffet from excess food - something we could all do with practising nowadays when the listed ingedients are often not available! Bring back that TV programme with the green bag and the red bag of shopping and the challenge between chefs to create a mealI don't think we realised how important it was at the time - well I certainly didn't! |
