Agreed, Chris. To your point about being able to jump on a bike...it was about building a reflex. No thinking. Just doing. And now that's out the window. I don't believe people from afar will plan their trips in advance. Locally, now we have to. Forest is a lousy experience all around. Lime was not. Voi is not but you can't really use them to go anywhere unless maybe central Hounslow. Julian is also correct about multiple subscriptions, lost minutes, added costs. Also correct about no point in having all those bikes if they can't take you where you want to go. It was just inane PR from LBH and Katherine Dunne. 1000 Limes took you wherever you wanted to go. 500 Forest and 500 Voi don't. So less than half the effectiveness of the previous system. Councils have been thrust into public transport where they have zero capability/capacity to administer effectively. |
