Forget TfL. Wandsworth council confiscated Lime bikes themselves in an effort to improve the situation. They were not alone. When this was brought to Katherine Dunne's attention she said something daft like "there are no laws, blah, blah, blah" To which I said "it's called leadership, Katherine, if Wandsworth can do it why can't you? It's not rocket science." I pointed out how it could also have been a revenue stream and those funds could be put back into cycling. Instead we have Labour building an ostensible house of cards with their cycling initiatives and now said house has just come crumbling down. A Labour mayor, Labour Cycling czar, a local council with 100% Labour at the helm and a Labour member of the Hounslow Cycling Campaign and they botched it. Inept doesn't begin to describe it. Very interesting Michael Robinson et al are conspicuously absent at present. No comment from Hounslow Cycling? London Cycling? The Mayor? Our local MPs? Really? Labour just made it impossible for students to use e-bikes to get to school in West London. And nothing from nobody?? |
