I completely agree. What's also ludicrous is I cycle from Central London to Chiswick and back each day. Usually on my own bike but I use the Lime bikes regularly. Although in Chiswick I'm in the Borough of Ealing where the Lime bikes are allowed. So I'm in the very silly position of being able to ride a bike through parts of Chiswick ( Ealing Borough), then when I enter Hounslow the bike hardly works and peddling is very hard, until I hit Kung Street where it works again. Surely Hounslow council could have allowed Lime customers to ride bikes across the borough without restricting them, fair enough if they don't allow parking in the borough, but at least allow cross borough trips by customers. It seems Hounslow are being unduly difficult and restrictive. If I have to change bikes once and walk 5 mins between different bike provider stations, I'm just not going to bother, there won't be bikes there when you need them. I will get the train or ride my own bike instead. It's a self defeating policy by Hounslow. We should be encouraging people to do longer distance commuting by bike, not putting silly barriers in the way. At least allow cross borough trips...? Id like The Evening Standard or done other media outlet to pick up this cause... |
