Sophistry indeed. Your dedication to the cause is truly impressive. Although there is no actual ban on the flower market vehicles using the Bond Street car park, the previous arrangement allowed vans and lorries to park outside designated bays and blocking fellow traders in, in the knowledge they would be departing at a similar time. Without this arrangement, most larger vehicles are likely to park at the road side. Let's assume you are right and Cllr Biddolph objected to this arrangement specifically, as opposed to more generally about parking space being taken up in the area, failing to recognise its benefits both to traders and residents, didn't mention this objection in her lengthy comments on the licensing renewal, and despite her 'success' is now disclaiming responsibility. It remains the case that her objection or another person's objection would only be effective if a council officer decided a good argument had been made and that to do what was requested was to the benefit of the public. Wouldn't it be helpful, particularly for the market organisers, to have the reasoning for this explained? |
