So purely as a matter of interest how much "cash" do you imagine the average person has lying about at home, or hidden way, such as might interest a burglar ? And maybe more to the point, what are you suggesting they actually need it for ? These large sums of money they keep ready to hand ? Nowadays what with credit and debit cards and internet banking I'd imagine most people only ever need cash to pay parking machines in unfamiliar locations. Or maybe you know different ?
