| "Btw Ken, let's hear about your scheme for safer cycling on CHR" Kind of you to ask. TfL is not nearly radical enough. My scheme: From 0700 to 2000 all eastbound traffic on CHR has to turn left at Acton Lane and find its way from there. From 0700 to 2000 all westbound traffic on CHR has to turn left at Chiswick Lane and ditto. * From 0700 to 2000 central section of CHR reserved for residents, buses, blue badges, emergency vehicles, controlled by manned gates and guards armed with paint ball guns. Bike lanes both sides. One vehicle lane down the centre, primarily used by buses which will pass each other at 'lay-by' bus stops. Pavement and trees to remain except trees which are not bee-friendly. These to be replaced with bee-friendly trees. All deliveries between 2000 and 0700. Multi-storey car park to be built on site of Sainsbury car park for park and ride into town from Chiswick Park station. Oh, and no dog walking on pavements, which are reserved for humans only. *If Hammersmith and Fulham wants to join in, there could be no westbound traffic after Hammersmith gyratory. |
