| Ken, this won't do that. And statistics prove it hasn't worked to date. It just slows the traffic and increases pollution. The only way of reducing cars around London is to increase the pricing to enter the various zones or to implement road pricing on a large scale so it is unaffordable or to ban traffic from certain areas altogether apart from emergency vehicles and perhaps a limited number of taxis and buses. Personally I wouldn't be against that but the government fears the backlash from car drivers so won't do it - but our lovely High Road needs to remain as it is but with even more trees, pavement cafes and open spaces. |
