Would it not be possible for the Cinema to come to a deal with Sainsbury so that each time you bought a cinema ticket you could also purchase a car parking ticket for Sainsbury's Car Park for a reasonable fee (say £2?). In my experience the Car Park usually (always?) has plenty of free spaces after 8 pm i.e. when cinema-goers are arriving in Chiswick by car, and will obviously be completely free of cars after the Supermarket is shut i.e. when the cinema-goers will be arriving back to drive home again. I can see two possible problems. First, it is a bit of a walk between the Cinema and Sainsbury, but not excessively so (imo) and I'm sure the local businesses along the way would welcome the extra footfall. Second, it would require there to be an Attendant on duty at the Car Park for another couple of hours after the normal Sainsbury opening hours, to sort out any problems with lost/faulty tickets, or the barrier not working etc. But this could be covered by the extra revenue generated by the parking fee. Since the vast majority of those arriving by car will be booking online, the Cinema could advertise the Car Park, with Map and Directions etc on their website, whilst adding the cost to the Cinema ticket price. And they could have a machine inside the Cinema which could validate the Sainsbury Parking Card allowing, say, another hour after leaving the Cinema for it to be activated. And Sainsbury might even pick up a little extra business from cinema-goers popping in to buy a few items before they walk to the Cinema? Or am I missing something? |
