Do you really think Kentucky would get permission to open until 1am or 2am on a Fri/Sat - whichever it is they currently open to - if they were applying for a brand new licence on that site today? You don't think Ennismore residents would object? Is there anywhere in W4 selling hot takeaway food past midnight, other than West Kebab, which again has been there for at least 25 years, and hence I imagine holds a long-standing late licence, like Kentucky? You say there is "no good reason why a site with the 27, 190, 237, 267, 391 and H91 buses, two nearby Tube stations as well as (fingers crossed) a cycle superhighway right outside should generate excess parking", but realistically it will. You also say "a lot of us drive to Park Royal, Hammersmith and so on to the cinema now, so there's arguably a positive benefit to traffic levels opening a local one you don't need to drive to". Yet surely that argument applies in reverse - i.e. people in Brentford, Isleworth, Acton, Ealing Common etc will drive to this attractive mainstream/arthouse cinema, rather than use the impersonal, US shopping mall-style one at Park Royal. They won't all take the tube or bus. |
