Pre the CPZ in our area my wife often came back late from work and was unable to find a parking space within a 5 minute walk of our house. When a woman was seriously attacked at night in the vicinity we had an arrangement that she would call and I would walk to where she had parked. We were very much in favour of a CPZ when it was proposed as a result and, although we have serious reservations about the way that it run, wouldn't want to go back to the old system. It became much easier to find spaces at night because holiday makers didn't dump their cars in the area for a fortnight at a time. For this reason, although I don't live near the cinema myself, I can understand why a significant number of people who live in the area will want reassurance about parking. There will be relatively small number of spaces but they will be taken up by cinema goers just as residents are returning late home from work. I'm quite excited about the cinema but wouldn't want to ride roughshod over the needs of people who live in the area to get one. |
