If people want to spend their money attending the Spectator Debate on the Third Runway it is up to them. Over the years I have attended a good number of meetings and debates on this subject including the very important meeting organised by HACAN in Methodist Central Hall Westminster prior to the last General Election. At that time the Labour Government was in favour of a Third Runway. I am opposed to a Third Runway. Our MP Mary Macleod is opposed to a Third Runway. Hounslow Council says it is opposed to a Third Runway. Boris Johnson is opposed to a Third Runway. The 2M group of London councils is opposed to a Third Runway. The Conservative and Liberal Democratic parties continue to be opposed to a Third Runway. At the moment the Labour Party is opposed to a Third Runway but that may change when Labour comes under pressure from its trade union paymasters. UKIP is opposed to a Third Runway. The Green Party is opposed to a Third Runway. If a fraction of the energy devoted to talking and writing about the Third Runway were devoted to campaigning against it, then there would be no Third Runway. |
