| Yearsago we had many quiet events enjoyed by regulars. locals and visitors. The Mansions were rented out by the Police and other public services for their meetings. Art classes and Art Exhibitions in the the big Mansion. Outdoor Theatre , Music concerts in the Mansion Houses, and of course a visit from the Queen and Prince Philip on her Golden Jubilee. She lunched upstairs in the Small Mansion House, The Orangery was a venue for weddings and parties . Splendid sight to see the Bridal Horse and Carriage arrive. Outside the Museum we had craft fairs and food festivals. No drug dealers and junkies and winos vomitting and defacating in the park or residents gardens . No roads needed to be closed . No policing needed . No areas in the park closed off to the public , no piles of rubbish left outside the gates for days on end. The revenue from from all these events kept the park in good order. No noise to disturb local residents either. |
