The £100mn given by the government was a partial but not complete restoration of the £150mn cut from the March 2023 budget. Overall active travel funding is down on the previous year. This obviously isn't a good thing but it is a sign of financial constraint rather than an indication of policy direction. Mr Slaughter does have more important things on his plate such as chairing the Justice Select Committee and Charing Cross Hospital but he does seem to be willing to devote a good deal of energy to Hammersmith Bridge so doesn't seem to be playing it safe. |
