| “ There may be a case for stopping private vehicles” But there isn’t a case for stopping private vehicles. It’s imperative that the bridge is opened for all to take pressure off Putney Bridge and Chiswick Bridge. Regarding the bus numbers I recall that when we moved from Chiswick to Barnes all the buses were double deckers. I can’t recall the year that the Bridge was suffering extreme stress and the decision was taken to use only single deckers and the number of buses crossing the bridge at one time was strictly controlled with traffic lights. But at least we could commute by bus, car, bicycle or foot. It’s imperative that the bridge is opened again for ALL traffic. Hopefully the new Government will do this. |
