Apologies, Francis.

I've been traveling Euston Road for roughly eight years now. Traffic moved better without the missing lane. That's not rocket science. Emergency vehicles never had issues because there was always a place for any/all vehicles to shift to. Now they are locked in. Somehow engineering and flow get short shrift in this country and then people wonder why traffic builds. Let's see, light phases that allow one or two vehicles on major thoroughfares? During rush hour? Should it take 25 minutes to inch along by the Library because of it (and that's just on Midland Road)? Or should phasing by more synchronized? Maybe control phasing entirely and take out the unknown in pedestrians activating a button? That test has yet to be tried. So as long as it's all trial and error, why not throw that into the mix?

Cycling safety is important. But when a cycleway sits idle for over a year, strewn with leaves and litter and weeds, then it's time for the next experiment. Is it not?

Your logic, Francis, must make you insane when you see all the vans with only one guy driving them. I drive an estate car. I "present" as one of those you criticise. Yet I'm on a supply and distribution run. And I'm not the only one using a car as required. I believe that's the grey you say you embrace. Evidence to the contrary.
