All companies are amoral because they have a fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders. That means they must obey the law but can't really incur extra costs simply because it is the 'right thing to do'. Looking online Satnavs for HGVs start at around £330 and Eddie Stobart's revenue is about £850 million with profits in the tens of millions. They can afford the extra equipment but choose not to because it would impact their bottom line. The only way to change this policy is if the reputational damage was such that it was likely to impact their income. Sharing pictures of their lorries in the wrong place and articles like the one published by this site increase the likelihood of Stobart doing the right thing. |
