Ealing published much more extensive traffic numbers subsequent to the Hounslow's Steer report. This included NS traffic on Fishers Lane, Acton Lane and Turnham Green Terrace as well as counts along South Parade. The latest counts were taken in September 2021 when overall traffic was close to prepandemic levels. Overall NS counts were down 14% with an 88% reduction on Fishers Lane, a 15% increase on Acton Lane and a 4% increase on Turnham Green Terrace. So although there is certainly some displacement of the traffic from Fishers Lane, overall 55% of the traffic along it has evaporated. As far as EW traffic is concerned, South Parade traffic is also down overall which should be no surprise as trips which previously used South Parade to access Fishers Lane now continue NS along either Acton Lane or TGT. This reduction also shows that the reduced traffic we've seen on the High Road has not been down to more vehicles taking South Parade instead. Pollution is measured at the junction of Acton Lane and Cunnington Street and shows reduced NO2 for 2020 compared to earlier years, most likely to do with overall reduced traffic irrespective of any restrictions. However, pollution is strongly correlated with traffic counts for obvious reasons, and so it's reasonable to assume that the overall reduction in traffic has lead to cleaner air. https://www.ealing.gov.uk/info/201286/road_closure_to_motor_vehicles/2915/fishers_lane_closure_to_motor_traffic_except_buses |
