Nationally the DfT figures gives car numbers at 97% of prepandemic levels for September 2021, and motor vehicles as a whole at 101%. That's actually the highest percentage since this statistic was collected. https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/transport-use-during-the-coronavirus-covid-19-pandemic Most of the trips not taken due to WFH were on public transport. That's why tube use continues to be down by more than a quarter while motor-vehicle counts are back very close to prepandemic levels. So the point is that vehicle counts on those three routes in Chiswick were down in September 2021 by 14% after the closure of Fishers Lane, and that can't be explained by national trends. |
