David, Studies with twins show that being gay is very much genetically controlled, while being trans is generally not. Which suggests that you can be born with a strong likelihood of being gay, but that maybe you can't be born trans and it's more about nurture and some amount of personal choice (even though those choices may be deep in the subconscious, in which case I don't know if they should be called choices at all...it's a bit like the question of whether personality is a choice or not). Plus, being gay doesn't lead people to irreversible surgery and medication. So you shouldn't lump them together. The issues are very different. |
