Thank you for all your suggestions, Paul. After ten years in this location (more than some of the national chains that have come and gone) we've managed to survive.

No parking and no bike racks is not a perceived threat. It is an enormous liability created by a short-sighted scheme. What you are suggesting and, indeed, what many believe to be the future of the High Streets is to create more of a destination. Destinations need infrastructure of all types to thrive. CS9 will remove infrastructure including bike racks. So not really a win-win. By the by, you have no clue how our efforts have affected us. Thanks for assuming doom and gloom. Always a pleasure. If you'd care to have an actual chat, please stop by and whatever you opt to have will be my treat. I'm surprised by your lengthy list of business challenges you take a very myopic view of CS9. You seem to think its the be all and end all. And it is THE only thing needed to help the High Road. As for us, we are doing our due diligence. We are being told to look elsewhere at other examples with cycle lanes and we have been told to speak with businesses in those locations to learn of their experience. We have. Have you? Sorry you don't like what this messenger has to say. But as of this moment, business in these other locations has not returned to what it was before the cycle lanes which is a direct contradiction to the sales pitch. You can enjoy the Kool-Aid all you want, but I prefer it more distilled.

Quick aside...how can you explain the new 9-story parking garage being constructed on Brentford High Street for 500 vehicles? They just building that for sh*ts and giggles? Or is it because they've determined the need for parking in a newly revitalized community? Chiswick has 51 parking spaces with a smattering here and there on side streets. Now that Ken Munn has counted bike racks perhaps he has the time to count parking spaces.

No business should have to fight for reduced rates during public construction works. That should simply be in place. Have you any clue what it takes to fight HMRC? They are wholly inept at maintaining even the slightest hint of business protocol - hey, let's call but not leave a message. Let's call and not call back. Let's leave our post and not pass on this guy's case to a successor. Been there. Done that. Maximizing the abundant space outside? Any idea what that would cost? Did you know LBH increased rates for outdoor seating for the second time in three years? How much turnover would be needed to cover the cost? Oh yes, let's have a look/see at the local demographics and you'll see there really aren't that many people in Chiswick. This particular group by and large use their cars. What do you think the average salary of a Mobike user is? Where do they shop? How do they shop? How does anybody shop these days? If you can buy a pair of shoes from your phone whilst pedaling or riding the tube then by the time you arrive home you ain't going out again. Your suggestions are based in retail models of yesteryear, not taking into account any of the forces at play now. Take a look at that Parliamentary Report for High Streets 2030. You might just learn something. Perhaps Ruth has finally read it. But hey ho, stupid us. Just ten years. So surely we must be dumb.
