| Hi David, If you look on Streetview at the 44 shops along Green Lanes, Winchmore Hill Parade, where the bike lanes were put in: Before, Sept 2015: 2 were empty After, May 2018: 1 was empty It looks like one more has become empty since, so 2/44 before, 2/44 after. Compare to a similar length of time along the south of the High Road, between Heathfield Terrace and Annandale Road, which is also 44 shops: May 2015: 1 was empty, the old Clean and Press by Oddone's April 2018: 5 were empty, losing Reflections, Carphone Warehouse, Capulet Galleries, Haus. We've lost Jackson Rye since, so the vacancy rate has increased from 1/44 to 5/44 over a matching period. I'm not claiming that any one business is being buoyed up by passing cyclists in Winchmore Hill. Rather you're the one claiming CW9 will destroy retail along the High Road. There's little evidence from a comparison between the High Road and Winchmore Hill for your claim, quite the opposite. |
