| Hi David, I've no doubt you've heard plenty of grumbles over the years from shopkeepers everywhere, about rates, cycleways, parking, and internet shopping amongst many other topics. But it's pretty difficult to quantify shifts in the actual health of retail activity in a neighbourhood from these conversations. If you look at any assessment of economic health in a retail centre, occupancy rates are one of the key parameters. Streetview gives local snapshots of this measure quickly and objectively. Of course it will not be bang up-to-date, but we're looking for the longer term effects over scores of shops. Of course you can ignore this and fall back on anecdotal information and the latest conversations. However, I think you already know you are unlikely to persuade many decision makers on that basis. |
