| Unwittingly there is a point to dismissing the rise in the cost of an overseas holiday - after all, another £200 is not exactly a disaster. Some might even ask - is that it? The unintended point is that as yet, day to day, there are few changes that impact most people directly. However it is foolish to claim that such a current lack of direct and immediate problems in any way changes the fact that we are facing a catastrophic impact to the UK economy. Price hikes on imported goods wont come into play until next year. The lay-offs from a down turn or from re-located jobs will take time to put into place. There is a natural stickiness to house prices as people are reluctant to drop asking prices. The government's even deeper cuts can only be justified when all these issues are evident. But next year. And the year after. Hold onto your hats. |
