What is being said, which is indisputably true, is that lots of global companies will move out if we leave the single market. In the meantime any plans for expansion in the UK are being put on hold with investment being made elsewhere. This situation is likely to continue until companies know what the trading regime is which will take at the very minimum three years. I'm still waiting for an example of a media lie about this. I'd be really grateful if you could provide one. You also ask what happens if Brexit actually never take place. I think most companies are assuming that it will never happen because the consequences would be so disastrous. It is predominantly potential jobs that are disappearing at the moment. I doubt any company who made a decision to expand elsewhere in Europe would immediately switch back to the UK once we see sense so those jobs are lost for good. |
