This is a bit of a late reply to David Giles. I don't think he's aware that the high maintenance costs of the footbridge are due to the need for a disabled lift. Normally, such a bridge would have ramps. Blackstone's housing development has made that impossible. So Blackstone take the profits from additional housing and council-tax payers in Ealing are expected to shoulder additional costs. As the statement mentioned the Business Park and the footbridge has the support of both Council leaders. However, I'm sure that David would be the first to criticise Council leaders and officers who conceded everything a developer wanted before proceeding to negotiate. Not a wise strategy in business. |
