“So we should arrange our lives to suit the dustmen's needs, should we ?” Yes of course we should. Its called responsible behaviour. “ Given that in our road the collection times can vary from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. or later, even if we did set the alarms to get up early on collection morning, we might find they are on an early shift,” Yes well I get up at 6.45 on collection days for just that reason. We have loads of fox in our area (have never seen a rat though) and they tend to attack the black bags from about 8pm until midnight. I have rarely seen a fox out and about early morning. They like to sleep late!! . “Papers are not supposed to be put in green boxes - they go in the blue bag.” I know but it is acceptable for papers to be put directly into the green box. I asked the recycling guys a couple of years ago. Reason is that the blue bags were also being scattered about after emptying which didn’t do much to enhance curbside appearance either. I see very few blue bags out these. Most people don’t use them. Naturally if stashing paper in the green box some common sense should be used. i.e. place papers at the bottom and put heavier bottles and cardboards at on top. |
