| It would probably be a good idea to revisit the point of the current configuration of the lights at Dukes Avenue. The original intention was to make cyclists safer but that isn't what is happening. I don't go by this junction every day but I have witnessed several occasions in which a westbound cyclist went through a red and was nearly hit by car or van turning left. As with the Chiswick Lane junction, experienced cyclists who know the area switch between the cycleway and general traffic lanes to avoid the long wait at the lights and a high proportion of others go through a red phase on the cycle way. What would be the downside of removing the cycle phase at this junction and desegrating it at the approach so you could scrap the left turn westbound phase? There has been a serious collision at this junction due to dumb luck and it would seem wrong to wait for this to happen for it to be reassessed. |
